Today was very much varied weather from a cool overcast start, then some sunshine and now it is raining.
The start was not auspicious, as I got ready for my morning walk, walked to the front of the van to do a few push ups and the van was covered, really covered in little ants. While I was deciding what to do a couple of locals from the lifestyle village came past and told me that they are quite common there. Anyway I got out the crawling insect spray and zapped all of them, then shifted the van to a tap and blew them all off with water. That sort of stopped my walk so I had breakfast and went into town to do some shopping.
Then on the road again. The first stop was a pretty little riverside town called Woodburn and I was amazed at how busy the Main Street, cappacino strip was. After a wander road I moved on to Evans Head where there is an aviation museum that I wanted to see. The main attraction is that they have a F111 on display. Amongst some other interesting stuff on display is Carbou transport which has been the RAAF workhorse for many years. They also had a Russia’s MIG15. There was nothing else to see in Evans Head and the tourist information centre is a desk at on side of the bowling club bar with no one manning it so I could not get any extra ideas.
So a relatively long drive down the M1 which is pretty well 100km of roadworks to Grafton where I am ensconced in the Jabour Park very basic campground and it is still raining and the lightning is just starting.
