Last nights camp at The Channon was interesting. It was on private property and the owner collected the fee but it is listed and signed as ‘The Channon campground’. It occupied what was basically a very wide driveway to a house which I presume is a farm house as it is surrounded by paddocks. Actually only on one side the other side is a very steep embankment leading down to the river. This morning the whole site and surroundings were blanketed by mist which made it rather pretty. They also supposedly have resident koalas, but I did not see any.

The town itself is very small just a tavern, a post office and a few houses. There might have been more but I did  not see them. It is very pretty and would be a nice place to live if you like isolation and prettiness tucked away in the blue mountains.

From there, after the usual routine, I proceeded to Lismore which was quite a pleasant drive, despite the poor road quality. At Lismore I refilled a gas bottle, which is happening far to often, had a look around and moved on. The look around took me to a lookout which had so many lovely trees surrounding it that the view was very limited and judging by the couple of people that I saw there it is more of a lovers lane.

Then on to Casino where my window was to await my arrival. The original promised delivery date was Wednesday, but Dometic (who were supplying it) missed (!!) the courier and repromised it for Thursday. I discovered this when I checked late on Wednesday and then when I checked late on Thursday it still had not arrived but the local carrier said that he had it and would deliver it Friday morning. So by arrangement I got to the repairer at midday and it still had not arrived but was definitely in town due soon. So I went off and had a walk round town and treated myself to a burger for lunch in a sit down cafe (only my second bought meal of the trip, not counting Sydney and out of respect to my body was followed by a salad for dinner). The window is now installed and I will just have to make sure that the silly old bugger who is my assistant does not do that again.

For the night I am camped at the local, failry new, lifestyle village which includes a fairly large caravan park and which in turn includes a ‘dollar saver’ section with no facilities which suits me find.
