Today I feel like an explorer having travelled all over the countryside. That is a bit of an exaggeration so let me tell you a story.

Firstly there is last night which was spent at the Kyogle Showgrounds which in turn was hosting a bullriding contest. There was a lot of noise, mainly from the commentator during the contest which finished at a reasonable hour. At one stage I wandered over to have a look, nothing much happened other than a couple of riders who were tossed off so quickly that I did not get a chance to see what they were doing. Then I went back and went to bed only to have ears assaulted by very, very loud head banging music until quite late. On my walk this morning I discovered why. In addition to some very full large bins there was a virtual carpet on Bundy cans.

Anyway I hit the road at about 10.30am intending to stop at Darlington Park about 90km away for the night. The first turning that my navigator directed me to was marked not suitable for heavy vehicles. I had traffic behind me and the road came up rather suddenly so I continued and as soon as I could I did a u-turn and had a good look at the sign. The sign suggested an alternate, longer route so I took that and had a tour through the mountains. Like most days in the mountains the road was narrow, winding (a lot of bends marked for 30kph) and not the best quality. However as usual, even though the driver had to really concentrate, the scenery was rather nice. Then almost at the end my navigator has me turn on to another road labelled as unsuitable for big vehicles. After a little bit of looking for an alternate route I came to this  park where I have camped for at least tonight.

It is called Burgess Park and is on Christmas Creek in Lamington! Actually a nice small camping area and, as I need to slow myself down and relax a bit, I might just stay two nights.
