My Sydney visit will be a combined blog, hence the delay in producing it. Part of the reason is that I have been kept fairly busy.

From the very start of my stay at cousin Joanna & husband Michael’s house I have been overwhelmed with exceptional hospitality.  I was greeted by Michael as everybody else was out  and we had discussion about boats etc. My room was on the lower level or basement depending on your point of view. Those who are not familiar which Sydney will know that there is very little non-hilly areas in the suburbs and the streets twist and turn all over the place and they are usually pretty narrow. There are some areas where this does not apply, but Dover Heights where they live is definitely hilly and their lovely house is high up and on a sloping block. So there are really three levels, bedrooms at the top with fabulous views, living area in the middle with good views and the ground level which provided me with luxurious accomodation. The van was parked in the street in front of the house and I folded the outside mirrors in because the street was so narrow wth cars, and a van, parked on both sides of the road.

Michael flew off to Africa on business on Friday so we had one night together. Now the rest of this very friendly and hospitable household consists of two lovely girls, Mia who is very busy with post graduate study at university and Olivia who is starting her course this year. Then there are two full size poodles Remmy and Rosie both very friendly once we got over the introduction stage. They all made me feel very welcome. On the Friday night Joanna made a Shabbat dinner which included uncle Gordon and Louise & Anthony who had come up for uncle Norman’s celebration. It was a superb meal in very enjoyable company.

On Friday morning uncle Gordon took me out for coffee, followed by a tour of the beaches and a very nice lunch.

Then on Sunday we traversed the city, via the tunnel, to the north shore to Mairwen & Craig’s (and their three children John, Susanna & Michael) house for uncle Norman’s 98th birthday. There was about eighteen people there, mainly family but including a couple of friends. The feast was very nice and the whole day was very well organised including some very well thought out words by uncle Norman (including some very appropriate and off the cuff). All in all a credit to the Chapman family and very enjoyable.

Today I left Sydney, taking nearly two hours to get out of the city or near city area, and drove to Gosford where I am now camped at the greyhound track.
