I had planned to spend two days in Yarrawonga and it was a very nice place in which to stay alongside the river in a camping area that was basic with a large number of trees But the noise from the white cockatoos was horrendous, it actually gave me headache last night and it started again this morning, not quite as loud but just as incessant. So I took my time, did all my chores and moved on.

I am now at Wodonga, the Albury-Wondonga type of Wodonga. Staying at the Showgrounds where they offer basic camping caravan park style with power and water for just $20. I got in quite early in the afternoon and have had a bit of a chill out, but will probably move on in the morning. The wind out this afternoon is very strong, I am parked with my rear facing the wind and cannot open my hart he’s for fear of them being blown away. The wind is also sometimes actually rocking the van.

On the way here I passed through Rutherglen which is a small town in a wine making region and which looks like a capaccino strip that serves wine. The population is just over two thousand. It has a relatively short, about 500mtrs, main street which has restaurants, wine bars, a lollipop shop, a couple of second hand bookshop, craft shops etc. The cars parked in the main stree reflected the strip atmosphere, you know Mercs and other good cars. There was also a pie shop and a couple of bakeries and a couple of lawyers. The big thing for me though was the grand and impressive old buildings, including a convent just out of town. It should be noted that the net shows ten hotels most of which I did no see. Naturally my camera went crazy with the opportunity presented.

Back to the pie shop, on my way out of town I treated my self to a pie and it was great, about as good as any that I have had.
