Okay I have been out of phone/internet range for a couple of days so this will be a long blog.

Starting with yesterday I left Balladonia at about 9 after the usual walk, shower and chores and after a major disaster. I dropped my coffee plunger which shattered into thousands of pieces and took ages to clean up the van, but the big problem is that I am now limited to jar coffee unil I can get to a shopping centre. The good thing was that the fridge started working on 12v (it only does that when the motor is running and should keep doing it while the motor is running) although it turned out to be a bit erratic. But the fridge is still nice and cold and so far is not gobbling up the gas. As usual I stopped for lunch at what was a nice stopping area, but no one else was there so I pushed on. A nice stopping area is defined as having some flat places to park Dan the Van and is improved by nice bush, or nice scenery. Facilities are unimportant but I prefer to have company from a security point of view, this is not essential but preferred. It also happens that the build up of campers happens during mid to late afternoon.

I moved on finally stopping at Moondini Bluff Rest Area where there were already a couple of campers (caravans count as campers as do motorhomes, camper vans, camper trailers and actual campers) on site. By nightfall that had grown to about 12 and was/is quite a nice place. I helped a couple of ladies remove kangaroo bits from the underside of their car. There was a lot of road kill, mainly kangaroos, on and alongside the road yesterday and they had the misfortune of being forced, by oncoming traffic, to drive over one of them with rather unpleasant results.

I did not think very well during the afternoon because this was to be my last stop in WA and I needed to cook my taters etc before crossing the border and I also needed to make another loaf of bread. So this morning I prepared the bread before my walk then did the second kneeding and put it in the oven to rise while I travelled to my next stop. Then I part boiled my taters , and I had lots of them for some reason or other, and sautéed my onions before taking off. The next stop was Eucla for fuel and I baked the bread and my tomatoes while I was there.

Then across the  border dumping my toilet and a lettuce, some broccoli and a half cauliflower that I had forgotten about. They do not do a border check coming into SA but if they stop you and find contraband! food the fine is rather large.

I am now camped about 5 meters from the edge of a cliff overlooking the Great Australian Bight and is a magnificent view, so good that I might stay 2 nights here. By the way I have 2 neighbours.

A couple of comments about the drive. This road is busy, almost like a suburban street. Every few minutes there is a truck heading west, in other words coming towards me and I presume that there is lots going the other way but they are probably traveling at about the same speed as me so I never see them. It is very rare for a truck to pass me. Then there are lots of cars, car and caravans, camper vans, camper trailer, etc going in both directions.

All in all very interesting and very enjoyable.
