Did it again, but at least this early morning next day. Up at a reasonable time yesterday and went for a walk around Donnybrook. This is a pretty special place, in addition to producin really nice fruit they have done a fantastic job of setting up a tourist town. For starters they have a proper transit park with level concrete slabs to park on complete with power and water. Only about ten bays but very user friendly. Then the walk to town, first the biggest and best kids playground that I have seen. Then the Main Street with lots of original buildings tidied up and reused for up to date purposes. Major brick paving with seats, gazebos, trees and story boards. The old railway station has been turned into a visitor centre. Then on the other side of the street one walks past the shops to the extensive vista of naturally landscaped park and river. This is rather beautiful and capped off with a modern suspension bridge. All in all, as I said at the start, a rather special town. Then I...

Already I am getting slack and did not do day 3. Anyway day 3, yesterday, was pretty quiet as it rained all day. I did get a couple of breaks and found the coast which was only about a kilometre away. However I was at the top of the cliffs and bearing in mind that I did not have anybody keeping tabs on me I decided that discretion was the better part of valour and did not attempt the very steep sand track that descended to the beach about 50 metres below. Today I took off early as I was out of gas, which means no fridge and no coffee. Picked up the gas at Dunsborough then went to have a look at the Naturaliste lighthouse, but this can only be seen on a paid tour! So I walked the so called lighthouse loop, took some pictures had breakfast and moved on. Next was a very pleasant visit to my friends Sue & Brian who I have not seen for about 5 years. They live in Busselton and we had a nice chat. I then moved on expecting to stay just up the coast from Busselton but that site did ...

Here we go blog number two and on time. I am still at Conto Campsite which has filled up a bit more today. I checked and it has 116 campsites spread over 8 seperate sections. Rather basic but provides indivual seperate marked bays including marked areas for tents and has toilets and a camp kitchen in each location. The weather today has been overcast and windy and cold and after some rain last night we had some very light sprinkles, just a few drops each time, during the day. After not finding the coast on this mornings walk, in fact being told by one of the camp hosts that the coast was 6 kms away, I spent the morning in the van. The morning walk was about 3k so I was not being too lazy! Anyway after lunch I had an idea - Google is my friend so I looked up Google Maps and found out that there is a track to the coast, an official track, that only 1km long. So I put it in my phone and followed the directions to the cliff top where I took some photos. The track down to t...

This is post numero uno. I would much prefer to be travelling with Elaine but life has dictated otherwise and I am travelling solo. This is a new van for me having been purchased about six weeks ago with a bit of help from my friend John Bevan from Caravan King in Mandurah. I cannot speak highly enough of Corey, Gareth and crew they have been very professional and considerate. Anyway back to my wanderings. I did a small trip north a few weeks back just to see how the van van worked and it was great. This time I headed south last Monday and spent my first night at Martins Tank Campround south of mandurah which is basic with facilities and quite nice. I then headed further south and after being lead the wrong way twice by my gps unit camped at Greenbushes pool. This is a basic parking area type camp, free of course, with toilets and next to a good swimming hole. This is a mining area, lithium now but previously tin and this swimming hole was originally waters supply for a mine. The...
